Funny Zen story of two monks and a lovely girl
Posted by: | Comments
Two monks were once traveling together down a muddy road. A heavy rain was falling. Coming around the bend, they met a lovely girl in a silk kimono and sash, unable to cross the intersection. “Come on, girl,” said the first monk. Lifting her in his arms, he carried her over the mud. The second monk did not speak again until that night when they reached a lodging temple. Then he no longer could restrain himself. “We monks don’t go near females,” he said. “It is dangerous. Why did you do that?” “I left the girl there,” the first monk said. “Are you still carrying her?”

An awe inspiring Omen from the Bible

I am by no means a bible thumper; I could’ve made a career out of sinning. Yet, in all the bad things I have ever done, I never lost faith in something more pure and beautiful that guides the world to make it a better place. I have hit rock bottom more then once; the higher you go in life, the farther the pit you fall down in. At one of my lowest points in life, I had no where else to turn. I asked God for a sign, an omen, that better days would be coming.
What happened next shook me to the core of my existence. I remember reading about a man who would flip through the bible to a random passage to find the guidance he needed at crucial times in his life. I thought; “It can’t hurt, if I try it just this once”. I was so low and depressed at that point, I would try anything. I started my flipping through the pages until they seemed to come to a stop for me.
