“My very dear Sarah:

The indications are very strong that we shall move in a few days—perhaps tomorrow. Lest I should not be able to write again, I feel impelled to write a few lines that may fall under your eye when I shall be no more . . .

I have no misgivings about, or lack of confidence in the cause in which I am engaged, and my courage does not halt or falter. I know how strongly American Civilization now leans on the triumph of the Government and how great a debt we owe to those who went before us through the blood and sufferings of the Revolution. And I am willing—perfectly willing—to lay down all my joys in this life, to help maintain this Government, and to pay that debt . . .

Sarah my love for you is deathless, it seems to bind me with mighty cables that nothing but Omnipotence could break; and yet my love of Country comes over me like a strong wind and bears me unresistibly on with all these chains to the battle field.

“Any life is made up of a single moment, the moment in which a man finds out, once and for all, who he is.”  Jorge Luis Borges

Upon finding a great Author that captures your heart, look further down the rabbit hole to find the writer that captured theirs.   Literature is often a road map of wisdom sending omens and random coincidences to guide you.  I’m always listening and watching for a recurring name or title to seek it out.

I found Jorge Luis Borges in Paulo Coelho’s book Confessions of a PilgrimPaulo shared a story about taking a long bus trip to see Borges in person.  Upon arriving and seeing Borges, he didn’t talk to him or ask him any questions.  He just looked at him and then returned home.  I pondered why he didn’t saying anything to his favorite writer. What stopped him from a hello or hand shake.  Paulo is an avid blogger communicating directly with his fans on a regular basis, so I have a good chance of finding my answer.  I will keep you posted on the results.

Jorge Luis Borges was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina on August 24, 1899. He was always expected to be a writer… He started writing at the age of six, mostly fanciful stories inspired by Cervantes. The Sick Rose William Blake

O Rose thou art sick.

The invisible worm.

That flies in the night

In the howling storm: Has found out thy bed Of crimson joy: And his dark secret love Does thy life destroy.

There is a place for us
that no one else can enter.
It is a place that holds no secrets,
only beauty, peace, understanding.
A place that we come to,

thinking we are one, only to have our souls fused together for a moment.  And in that moment, I know you; every pore, every pulse, every thought, every fear.

And I love you more. I feel myself laid bare before you,
and I feel content . . .  joyous that you are with me,  loving me in my nakedness. Read More→
