I love football.Nobody can hide on a football field: all your strengths, fears, and weakness are on the field of battle for everyone to see.The toughness is your mind and the grit in your heart will determine how well you play; how much you’re willing to sacrifice for victory. It’s not only the game that I love, but the elevating calm before the storm.Getting your mind in a place that will know no surrender-no defeat.Creating a mental zone to give it everything you have and leave nothing on the battle field.(Leave nothing but the body parts of your opponent, as one of my coaches use to say) With the season approaching fast, I decided to dedicate one post to my favorite sport.I hope you will enjoy this inspiring and motivating speech by coach Flowers.
Today gentleman, I am honored to coach you, and I am more honored to take you onto the field of battle. There is another honor to be bestowed upon you. That is the answer that comes with that question.Who Am I?
Answer: I am a champion!
That’s right and I need you to remember that all throughout this game.
I will conquer what cannot be conquered.
Defeat will not be in my greed
I will believe what others have doubted
Will always esteem, honor and respect for my team
I have trained my mind and my body will follow
Who am I?
I am a champion!
I will acknowledge the fact that my opponents do not expect me to win,
But I will never surrender.
Weakness will not be in my heart.
I will look to my comrades, those who have got me this far, and those that have trained me and I will draw strength from them.
Who am I?
I am a champion!
I will gladly go out to the field of battle,
And I will move, move in everything I can do.
I will reach my field of battle at any means at my disposal,
And when I get there, I will arrive violently, and I will rip the heart from my enemies and leave it bleeding on the ground.
Because he cannot stop me.
Who Am I?
I am a champion!
To my side I have comrades, comrades that have beaten on me through thick and thin: through sacrifice, through blood, sweat and tears.
Never will I let them fall, never will I let them down, I will never leave them behind. Because our opponent does not know my heart.
Who am I?
I am a champion!
No one will deny me, no one will define me, and no one will tell me who I am and what I can be.
Belief will change my world. It has moved continents, it has moved countries, it has put men on the moon, and it will carry me through this battle.
Who am I?
I am a champion!
Defeat-retreat: those are not in my words.I don’t understand those definitions.I don’t understand when things go wrong, I don’t understand mistakes, but I do understand this: I understand victory, and I understand never surrendering. No matter how bad things go, my heart, my mind will carry my body to its limits for me.
Who am I?
I am a champion!
Today will be that day.Not tomorrow! Not next week! But right now, Right here.
In your house and your home.
Who am I?
I am a champion!
History will remember me.I will define myself. I will write my own pages. No one will tell me what I can never be.I will never go out, not knowing I gave it everything I got.

It’s no secret that I am a huge Paulo Coelho Fan.He is my favorite writer, and my first edition signed copy of The Alchemist is one of my most prized possessions.I have listed below some amazing quotes I found on his Flickr account. In addition, you will find at the bottom of this post every link I could find relating to his work.
Here are some Paulo Coelho links worth checking out:
“Quit, don’t quit, noodles, don’t noodles. You are too concerned with what was and what will be.There is a saying, “Yesterday is History, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift, that’s why it is called a present.”Kung Fu Panda
“Your heart is free, have the courage to follow it.” BraveHeart
“Man should never fear Death, but man should fear never having lived.”Glimpses of Heaven
“Accept me as I am. Only then can we discover each other.” 8 and a Half
“Real sharpness comes without effort. No growth without assistance. No action without reaction. No desire without restraint. Now give yourself up and find yourself again.”Couching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
“We die containing a richness of lovers and tribes; tastes we have swallowed, bodies we have plunged into and swum up as if rivers, characters we have hidden if as if caves, fears we have climbed up as if caves. I wish for all this to be marked on my body when I am dead. I believe in such cartography, to be marked by nature. Not just to label ourselves like the names of rich men and women on buildings. We are communial books, communial histories. All that I wished was to walk upon an earth that had no maps.”The English Patient
“I am no one special, just a common man with common thoughts. I’ve led a common life, there are no monuments dedicated to me and my name will soon be forgotten. But in one respect, I’ve succeeded as gloriously as anyone who ever lived…I’ve loved another with all my heart and soul and for me… that has always been enough.”The Notebook
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness which frightens us. Your playing small doesn’t serve the world, there is nothing enlightening about shrinking so other people don’t feel insecure around you. We were all meant to shine as children do, it’s not just in some of us, its in everyone. And as we let our own light shine we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated our presence automatically liberates others. …… Sir. I just want to say thank you.”Coach Carter
“Strange memories on this nervous night in Las Vegas, has it been 5 years? 6? It seems like a lifetime. The kind of peak that never comes again. San Francisco in the middle 60’s was a very special time and place to be a part of, but no explanation, no mix of words, or music, or memories can touch that sense of knowing that you were there and alive in that corner of time in the world. Whatever it meant. There was madness in any direction, at any hour, you can strike sparks anywhere. There was a fantastic universal sense that whatever we were doing was right, that we were winning, and that I think…was the handle. That sense of inevitable victory over the forces of old and evil. Not in any mean or military sense. We didn’t need that. Our energy would simply prevail. We had all the momentum. We were riding the crest of a high and beautiful wave. So now less than 5 years later, you could go up on a steep hill in Las Vegas and look west and with the right kind of eyes you can almost see the high water mark. That place where the wave finally broke….and rolled back.”Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
“We don’t read and write poetry because it’s cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for. To quote from Whitman, [O me! O life! of the questions of these recurring; of the endless trains of the faithless--of cities filled with the foolish; what good amid these, O me, O life? Answer. That you are here - that life exists, and identity; that the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse.] That the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse. What will your verse be?” Dead Poets Society
“I guess I could be pretty pissed off about what happened to me, but it’s hard to stay mad when there’s so much beauty in the world. Sometimes I feel like I’m seeing it all at once and it’s too much, my heart fills up like a balloon that’s about to burst, and then I remember to relax and stop trying to hold on to it and then if flows through me like rain and I can’t feel anything but gratitude for every single moment of my stupid little life. You have no idea what I’m talking about, I’m sure but don’t worry you will someday.”American Beauty
Where Did I Come From?Who Am I?How much money is enough? What islove?
I recently published a post containing, Tips on living a better life in 2008, which sparked some serious debate over number 28, “God heals almost everything”.With over 12,000 views in one week and 30 comments, I was pleased this post had such a great response.I allowed all the comments, both negative and positive, to fly as I watched the debate progress.Very few chose the middle ground, but those comments happened to be my favorite. What I loved most about the post was that I learned a little something from its publication. Notably, the following comment seemed to strike a cord with me by JM, “It’s as though #28 ruined the day for everyone who read it. I’m agnostic or atheist or I don’t really know what, but it’s really irrelevant. I’m just blown away by the negativity that one comment can provoke in people who are logging on to a website based on “enlightenment.” My personal advice would be to “F&*$# lighten up.” But perhaps more sage advice would be what a Buddhist monk once told me when I struggled with one of the teachings: “Ignore that teaching. If it is a roadblock to accepting the good parts in the other passages, then you must discard it. Maybe one day you will feel differently about it, maybe not, but don’t let it get in the way of the parts which are helpful to you.” That’s my two cents. Feel free to get angry, I won’t.”So as a follow up to this post, I am asking the following question and I hope that my readers will continue this debate and we can all learn a little something from each other. What are the most important questions in life? Are they about religion, happiness, freedom, love, etc?Can any answers satisfy everyone, or are the answers only personal ones shape by ones experience in life?So what are the questions that are most important in life?Have you found any answers? What answers? To start things off, I have listed some questions to get the ball rolling.I hope you will share your knowledge, love, hate, wisdom, or whatever you feel like ranting about.I will allow everything except personal attacks on others to be published. What are the most important questions in life?
