The enlightened Kingdom of Shambhala

August 27th, 2008 by Jonathan

zen-walkwayThe Shambhala teachings are not based on converting the world to another theory.  The premise of Shambhala vision is that, in order to establish an enlightened society for others, we need to discover what inherently we have to offer the world.  So, to begin with, we should make an effort to examine our own experience, in order to see what it contains that is of value in helping ourselves and others to uplift their existence.

The very moment is always the occasion.

The principle of nowness is very important to any effort to establish an enlightened society.  You may wonder what the best approach is to helping society and how you can know what you are doing is authentic and good.  The only answer is nowness.  The way to relax, or rest the mind in nowness, is through the practice of meditation.  In meditation you take an unbiased approach.  You let things be as they are, without judgment, and in that way you yourself learn to be.

Let your wisdom as a human being connect with the power of things as they are.  There is no fundamental separation or duality between you and your world.  This discovery many arise as an extraordinary smell, a fantastic sound, a vivid color, an usual taste.  Any perception can connect you to reality properly and fully.  If you are able to relax-relax to a cloud by looking at it, relax to a drop of rain and experience its genuineness-you see the unconditionality of reality, which remains very simply in things as they are.  There is some principle of magic in everything, some living quality.  Something living, something real is talking place in everything.

Without arrogance, see the brilliance of the universe.

We can’t ignore the phenomenal world.  We should always take the opportunity, seize it on the spot.  Appreciate the world, which is so vivid and beautiful.  Arrogant people are so involved with themselves and competing so much with others that they won’t even look.

Rest with gentle patience and strength.

This slogan is connected with realizing unconditional confidence.  Here, confidence does not mean having confidence in something, but remaining in the state of confidence, free from competition and one-upmanship.  There is no room for doubt; even the question of doubt does not occur.  This confidence contains gentleness, because the notion of fear does not arise; sturdiness, because in the state of confidence there is an ever present resourcefulness; and joy, because trusting in the heart brings a greater sense of humor.

Appreciate the accomplishments of your ancestors

The failure to appreciate the resourcefulness of human existence-which we call basic goodness-has become one of the world’s biggest problems.  However, we need to find the link between tradition and the present experience of life.  Nowness, or the magic of the present moment, is what joins the wisdom of the past with the present.  When you appreciate a painting, a piece of music, or a work of literature, no matter when it was created, you appreciate it Now.  You experience the same nowness in which it was created.  It is always now.

Amazing & Inspiring Football Speech: I am a champion!

August 25th, 2008 by Jonathan

I am a Champion

I love football.  Nobody can hide on a football field: all your strengths, fears, and weakness are on the field of battle for everyone to see.  The toughness is your mind and the grit in your heart will determine how well you play; how much you’re willing to sacrifice for victory.  It’s not only the game that I love, but the elevating calm before the storm.  Getting your mind in a place that will know no surrender-no defeat.  Creating a mental zone to give it everything you have and leave nothing on the battle field.  (Leave nothing but the body parts of your opponent, as one of my coaches use to say)  With the season approaching fast, I decided to dedicate one post to my favorite sport.  I hope you will enjoy this inspiring and motivating speech by coach Flowers…

Today gentleman, I am honored to coach you, and I am more honored to take you onto the field of battle.  There is another honor to be bestowed upon you.  That is the answer that comes with that question.  Who Am I?

 Answer: I am a champion!

That’s right and I need you to remember that all throughout this game.

I will conquer what has never been conquered. Defeat will not be in my creed. I will believe where all those before me have doubted. I will always endeavor to uphold the prestige, honor and respect of my team. I have trained my mind and now my body will follow!

  • WHO AM I? ….
  • I AM A CHAMPION!!!

I will acknowledge the fact that I am an elite warrior who arrives at the cutting edge of battle by any means at my disposal. I accept the fact that my team expects me to move further, faster and fight harder than our opponents. Never shall I fail my comrades. I will always keep myself mentally alert, physically strong and morally straight and I will shoulder more than my share of the task whatever it may be. One hundred percent and more

  • WHO AM I? ….
  • I AM A CHAMPION!!!

Gallantly will I show the world that I am a specially selected and well trained warrior. My heart and my soul will be the fuel to carry my body when my limbs are to weary. I will never falter, I will never lose focus as long as there is hope in my mind and my heart still beats. I will never give in to the evil that is weakness and I will fight that evil with my dying breath.

  • WHO AM I? ….
  • I AM A CHAMPION!!!

Energetically will I meet my enemies, no one will challenge me, none will stop me from my goal. I shall defeat them on the field of battle for I am better trained and will fight with all my might. Surrender is not a Champion’s word. I will never leave a fallen comrade to fall at the hands of my enemy and under no circumstances will I ever surrender.

  • WHO AM I? ….
  • I AM A CHAMPION!!!

Readily will I display the discipline and strength required to fight on to my objective and I will complete my mission. I will rise when I fallen. I will rip the heart from my enemy and leave it beating on the ground. My enemy need not fear me but he will respect me and if he does not. I will make him respect me with all that I have to give.

  • WHO AM I? ….
  • I AM A CHAMPION!!!

History will remember my name and he will not have to be kind. For I will have denied his criticisms and put in my own praise, No one will define me, no one will tell me what I can achieve, none will say I have not given all I have to give and none will take my glory.

  • WHO AM I? ….
  • I AM A CHAMPION!!!
